Philosophies of Nursing

Explore, both historically and personally, the basic philosophical belief system of nursing in general and your practice in particular using the framework of the six components of philosophy: ontology, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics and logic.

1. Choose one article from a database search to read, and then make comment on the discussion forum. The article you choose should relate specifically to philosophy and nursing.

Identify the key concepts (no more than two) from the article. Include in your discussion the relationship of the concept(s) to ontology, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics and logic as you interpret them in this article.

2. Express an opinion related to these components and how the philosophy you read either works or doesn’t work in your particular nursing practice.
