Why do you think the use of aversive stimuli in behavior therapy is controversial?

1.While behavior analysis did not evolve from research with humans, it is now often associated to treatment for individuals with Autism. How did the experimental start of ABA lead us to applications with humans in all varieties (not just autism)?

2.The use of rewards is paramount in behavioral therapy and it comes up frequently in the field of learning. Some people see the use of rewards as bribery.

Is giving children money for good grades, or taking out the garbage or providing bonuses to employees etc, bribery or reward?

3.Define aversive stimuli. Why do you think the use of aversive stimuli in behavior therapy is controversial?

4.Negative reinforcement is a term that is misunderstood by many. First, define it and then provide an example that happened to you within the last 24 hours.

Positive reinforcement is typically thought of as a good thing. Do you agree or disagree? Why? Can you think of a time when positive reinforcement can produce an undesired behavior? What is an example of this?
